Fostering relationships and connections can feel nerve racking  and sometimes uncomfortable.  We are very busy working and trying to balance our work life personal life balance and our wants with shoulds.  Some people have been working too much or raising kids and have lost friendships over the years.  Below are some relationship building tips.

  • Be open- Everyone can use a new friend.
  • Be Yourself– You must show up as who you really are. You deserve to be liked and appreciated for who you are and therefore be you!  You can put your best self forward, but do not behave or act in a way that you feel  people want.  If you are not genuine the relationship won’t be real either.
  • Have Fun- The friends that you laugh with, you will want to see again and vice versa.
  • Do Something You Enjoy – Many people go for coffee on a first meeting and they don’t even like coffee shops or coffee for that matter. So if you love mini-golfing, go mini-golfing.
  • Don’t Worry About the next plan – Be present! Enjoy the experience.
  • Try meeting people that compliment you – Time and time again I hear that my friend just gets me. Some are my best friends are similar to me, but also different.
  • Read a Book or healthy friendships or relationships!
  • Hang Out with people getting it Right- If you are surrounding yourself by people who are getting it right, it should rub off on you.
  • Love yourself- If you love yourself, you will draw a person for you that likes/loves you and respects you too!
  • Go to meet up groups – Especially if you are new in town.
